About The Office Of Benefits Services
The Johns Hopkins University's Office of Benefits Services is responsible for:
- managing and providing competitive health insurance, wellness, and retirement/pension benefits programs;
- maintaining compliance with federal and state statutes; and
- maintaining effective communication with faculty and staff about their benefits.
The Office of Benefits Services manages this website and works to ensure all benefits information is kept up-to-date for the University's faculty, staff, and retirees.

Benefit Appeals
If you are not satisfied with any denial of a claim for benefits, you may file an
appeal. To initiate an appeal, you should follow the plan’s appeal procedure. If you
want to appeal the plan’s decision, you can appeal the decision to the Office of Benefits Services within 180 days of receipt of a denial
notice. You should state the reason why you feel your appeal should be approved and include any information
supporting your appeal.
