Eligibility:
Full-time benefits-eligible faculty and staff employed by JHU for 90 days or more, and continuing in a full-time position are eligible to participate in the program.
Allowances:
Reimbursement will be made for 100%, up to $2,000 per calendar year, of part-time undergraduate tuition costs paid out-of-pocket. Proof of payment and a grade of “C” or better are required for reimbursement. The Tuition Reimbursement Plan for Undergraduate Studies applies only to courses taken for academic credit at a degree-granting college / university, outside Johns Hopkins University.
Tuition Reimbursement Taxability:
Tuition Reimbursement payments received by participating employees are not taxable.
Limitations:
Retirees, family members, fees, and pass/fail, non-credit, graduate and JHU courses are not covered by the plan. Reimbursement also will not be made for credit courses taken for audit or full-time studies (11 or more credits). Faculty and Staff members eligible for the Tuition Reimbursement Plan for Faculty and Staff in Outlying Area are not eligible to participate in this plan.
Instructions:
1. Complete a Tuition Reimbursement Plan Application after completing the courses for which you desire reimbursement. The form accommodates up to 3 courses. Employees must provide their personnel number and EE group on the Plan application.
2. Obtain supervisor certification, which is needed to confirm employment status (length of employment and employee group). It must also be obtained for courses held during employees’ work hours and by new employees requesting a waiver of the 90 day full-time employment requirement. Supervisors may waive the 90-day full-time employment requirement for required courses.
3. Forward completed Tuition Reimbursement Plan application, with a copy of course grade reports and payment receipts for out-of-pocket tuition costs to the Education Assistance Benefits (EAB) office (address below). Paperwork also may be faxed.
4. EAB will review submitted paperwork and request reimbursement for eligible tuition costs. Payments will be made directly to employees via payroll checks. Employees will be notified in writing when application requests are denied.
