Tuition Reimbursement Plan for Faculty and Staff in Outlying Areas
Eligibility:
Full-time faculty and staff members living and working outside the Baltimore or Washington metropolitan areas become eligible for this benefit 90 days after full-time employment begins. The 90-day waiting period can be waived for faculty or staff if the supervisor or department head certifies that the course is a requirement of the job.
Allowances:
Reimbursement is for 100% of tuition and mandatory fees for courses approved by the faculty or staff member's supervisor or department head. Reimbursement is for the value of part-time study not to exceed $5,250 in a calendar year (January 1 - December 31). The Tuition Reimbursement Plan applies only to courses taken for academic credit at a degree-granting college/university, outside Johns Hopkins University.
Tuition Reimbursement Taxability:
Effective January 2002, the tuition remission used by employees on all undergraduate and graduate courses is tax free. Questions about the program should be directed to the Education Assistance Benefits Office at 443.997.6810.
